BlackBerry Torch Challenge: Day 5
It's day five of my BlackBerry Challenge and things are starting to ease into some semblance of normalcy. I'm getting used to the OS and the way it functions, but there are still some things that bother me. Why can't I use the Silent button to silence the ringer? Why can't I set a default panel instead of it always sliding back to the All panel? Why is there no ESPN app in the App World? Okay, maybe the last one is a trivial thing, but the app selection seriously is limited, and that's coming from someone who previously used Windows Phone which has 60,000 apps in its Marketplace. Not only are there a low number of apps, but they are low-quality, knock-off apps and there are very few free ones. I like free apps. Sorry.
I have been getting great battery life. It has been lasting nearly two days on one charge. The keyboard has also been great, as expected. Web browsing is not as bad as everyone says it is. Granted, I don't do a lot of web browsing on my phone anyway, but the times when I have done it I've had no problems. There's nothing essentially wrong with the phone or the OS. I think a lot of my qualms are really with things that could go either way. I miss widgets and live tiles, but this is a different OS so I can't expect the same features. This is only day five so I still have plenty of time to grow accustomed to the OS. I'll be back on day nine to let you guys know how it's going.
